Medihelp is one of the largest healthcare schemes in South Africa. They offer Medihelp medical plans with a range to suit various ages, lifestyles and budgets.
Medihelp medical plans and the Necesse plan
Necesse is a basic hospital plan that has full in-hospital cover and day-to-day benefits via their network of healthcare doctors. You have to use certain doctors from the network to avoid any other costs.
The plan covers acute meds that must be agreed by a network doctor and bought from a preferred 
chemist. Only medicine that appears on the list qualify for benefits.
A preferred chemist must also supply over-the-counter and chronic meds. The Necesse plan covers x-rays and blood tests by a network doctor, scheduled and emergency care, and hospital stays.
Dimension Prime 1
This is right for people who maintain their health and like the peace of mind of having full cover. With Prime 1, members can gain access to a private hospital and other care. Further cover consists of Trauma recovery, PMB’s and Day-to-day benefits
Dimension Prime 2
This option not only provides day-to-day benefits it also includes a savings account. This helps when it comes to extra costs such as dental and eye care.
Dimension Prime 3
This plan offers complete cover and includes:
- Preventative care
- General radiology and pathology
- Dental work
- Optometry
- Treatment and care of 270 PMB’s and 26 chronic conditions
- Access to emergency services
Dimension Elite
The Dimension Elite extras include day-to-day costs and no-limit treatment for surgery.
Preventative care cover includes:
- Flu and Tetanus vaccine
- HPV vaccine
- Other tests include pap smears, blood sugar, prostate and HIV.
Extras on the plan include:
Pregnancy and Paediatric consulting and back treatment for spinal column surgery. Choosing the right medical aid plan is a tough choice. But as long as you know your needs and budget, you can easily find a plan that will be right for you.
